Thom Staser never intended to be a leather-wearing Santa Claus.

All he really wanted to do 20 years ago was have the freedom to choose whether or not to wear a helmet when he rode his motorcycle along California’s streets, roads and highways.

LaMalfa Honors Nevada County Toy Run on 20th Anniversary

Official Press Release – November 15, 2011

official resolution document
Senator LaMalfa (shown left below) presented Thom Staser, CEO and Founder of the Nevada County Food & Toy Run, with a Senate Resolution to commemorate the Toy Run’s 20th Anniversary.  For the last 20 years the Nevada County Food and Toy Run has been able to provide donated food and gifts to families in need during the Christmas season.

“It is great to see organizations like the Nevada County Food & Toy Run spread holiday cheer by taking part in the gift of giving,” Senator LaMalfa stated.

This year the Toy Run will be taking place on Saturday, December 10th at noon. As tradition, motorcyclists will ride from the Eric Rood Building to the Nevada County Fairgrounds to deliver toys for children and food for families.

I hope the Food & Toy Run will continue to touch the lives of those in need for another 20 years, concluded LaMalfa.

Plan ahead – Toy Run route map

Every year there are a few people who complain about blocked intersections and having to wait for the bikes to pass before they can get where they’re going. Now is the time to plan an alternative route around the procession or avoid the area altogether between noon and 1pm.

Remember, it’s a charity event that benefits so many people in our area and surely we can all afford a one hour inconvenience. Better yet, buy a toy, take it to the fairgrounds and join in the fun! (click on map for larger view)

Get a Leg Up!
